Dear Mister Moon

132253-Moon-Lady

My dear friend mister moon

Your presence is treasured

There’ll be no pinking measure

to transcribe my joyous pleasure

My thoughts silenced while I sleep

there’ll be nary a peep

Even in my deepest slumber

there’ll be no sawn lumber

Just knowing you’re near

there’ll be no reason for fear

My dear friend mister moon

there’ll be times I swoon

For a guiding light in the sky

there’ll be a natural high

Perhaps crazed and a bit crazy

there’ll be no excuse to be lazy

But mister moon the time is nigh

there’ll be a checkmate to know why

What made that cow jump so high

§

Hey, diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

  4. The use of ‘Mister’ sparked many reflections. The Moon has intermittently been treated as male or female, by poets. A beautiful woman is equated to the Moon. But, in a romantic situation, the Moon is male, and moonlight is female — perhaps the mindset of treating women as reflection of a man.Not to forget that the Moon itself emits reflected light.
