Memories from afar

I remember,

the path, long and dark

been a while since I trekked

to the old house, my reward

from spirits loved. Yet,

rueful memories, they

left a bitter taste

who left the light on?

I miss you.

  5. Gradient (Kyrielle Sonnet) –
    Riffing Eugenia’s “Memories From Afar”

    There was a time, lamp light enticed,
    welcomed home, for time sacrificed.
    Eerie glow followed fog’s descent;
    night sounds of forest, gradient.

    Souvenirs spliced, tethers severed;
    salvage intended, endeavored.
    Back to square one, all too frequent,
    night sounds of forest, gradient.

    Taught to follow blindly, a code,
    late for this final episode.
    If I could only circumvent,
    night sounds of forest, gradient.

    There was a time, lamp light enticed,
    night sounds of forest, gradient.
