piercing words colder than ice
they make one quiver.
with each passing day, obstinate bullies
unwilling to bestow kindness.
their spill of ugly words in print
their insipid garble of murky drama.
like a beacon from a lighthouse
beamed to the sky for all to see.
the bitterness in their souls
make one crumble and surrender,
our children the most vulnerable.
healthy friendships a crucial step
to develop emotionally and morally
to show compassion for others
to deter against bullying.
there is the awakening need
for friends at any age in life.
“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend” – Albert Camus

A wonderful interpretation of Sadje’s prompt, and adore the finale “quote”…
Thank you, Ivor! 😊
A lovely blend of prompts and life lessons. Focus on the similarities and differences disappear.
There is so much hatred running rampant it’s mind boggling. I wish everyone would show more kindness.
Have a fabulous day and week, Eugenia. ♥
I agree and thank you, Sandee!😊

This hits home today as one of my granddaughters is being bullied by classmates. Is there ever an end? Well written,.
Awww, I hate to hear that, VJ. Bullying is especially hard on children. Personally, I feel bullying will never end. So many people are unhappy with themselves and take it out on the vulnerable.
I agree. The girls that are bullying her have no parental supervision and often left to their own devices. I am certain their meanness comes from neglect.
Yes, they obviously need attention. How unfortunate.
wow impressive flow of those prompts and a most worthy message!
Thank you, Kate!
most welcome Eugenia!
So many use words to wound…. and sometimes they cut deeper than any knife…. Bullies such as these I experienced in my own school years…
Excellent poetry Eugenia <3
So true and yes, hurtful, Sue. Thank you for visiting. ❤️
