Interesting! I remember Margaret Thatcher being called that. People may not often realize that poets do research. I often do research, especially for poems about animals or historical topics.

I do like your poem, Eugenia, but now I can’t get Thatcher out of my head (I wasn’t a fan).

I didn’t realize Thatcher was referred to as the ‘iron lady’ when I wrote the poem. I was referring to the Eiffel Tower also referred to as the ‘iron lady’. Seems Thatcher wasn’t too popular? Wasn’t she PM for 10+ years?

I never knew that the Eiffel Tower was also the iron lady, but it makes perfect sense. Thatcher was PM from 1979 to 1990. She polarized society and people still have strong feelings about her premiership. You either love her or hate her.
