I am moving my blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. Things may appear to be wacky for a while.
Keep smiling and have a great day!

Thank you, Colleen. I went with Bluehost and we’ve had issues with migrating. I was online with their reps this morning and they are going to migrate my site and let me know when it’s complete. It’s been quite the experience but it will get done!

Was Bluehost cheaper than staying with WP? What made you choose them, if I may ask. ❤

The cost for Bluehost is little more then the cost for my Premium plan and it’s a lot less than WP’s Business plan. I did some research and Bluehost seemed to be the most popular and have been around a long time. Their customer service has been excellent so far. I’ll keep you in the loop.

With WordPress.org, I am free to do anything with my site and there are many, many themes available. WordPress. com is restrictive and the themes I use have been retired.

Ah… I haven’t bothered to change my theme.
I’m not one for changing my blog much.

Congratulations on making the move! I’m giving more serious thought to it. What hosting service did you go with? Are you doing the move yourself, or are you getting help?
I run a local copy of .org for my Sunday “Thanks For Your Comments!” feature. Moving everything is really not all that hard, at least from the perspective of making the move, but I’ve never tried messing with the themes….

Thank you! I went with Bluehost and tried to migrate my old blog myself but I think it’s too big and I ran into complications. After a few discussions with their customer service, they are doing the migration from their end. Themes are just templates and easy to set up once you find one that suits you.
I like to tinker with themes but as of late, if I left my current theme, it wouldn’t be available when I came back to it. We will see how it goes.

Wow Good Luck with that. The marketing course l am studying with – suggested highly about staying with WordPress but using Bluehost or rather using Bluehost and utilising WordPress, but then l heard of the complications. But it is supposedly very good for business blogs which is why l guess they suggest my business blog makes that move.
As with most things – time will tell.

Have you completed the move? I’ve gone to dark background myself. I can’t read half of the blogs anymore!

Yes, the move is almost completed. I had migration issues and ended up migrating most of it myself. Some of the older posts didn’t move over so I am entering a few of them individually. I found a great theme that has tons of features. It’s been a lot of work but no regrets. The customer service at Bluehost has been excellent! I think they cringe when they see my name come up in their chat cue. lol
I see many blogs using the new themes and I can’t read most of them either. They don’t have any structure and seem very unorganized.

I can’t read the print on most of the blogs. It’s hard to see. I’ve followed in your footsteps with a darker theme for word Craft poetry. Finding a theme is crazy. I’m back to using themes that were popular over 7 years ago! The new themes don’t have side widgets! It’s insane! I’m happy you found one that works for you. ❤️🥰

Not being able to find a theme was one of the main reasons I moved. My new theme is similar to some of the WP Business themes and it is a free theme. I was using the older WP themes too because at least they had personality, .

It’s so frustrating! My poets don’t like the dark. I’ll have to see what I can do tomorrow. 😂👓

Perhaps, a lighter color?

I went with the Ixion theme and used some colors that weren’t bright white. It’s much better. Everyone wanted white background with black print. It will work for now. The chrome browser changed the fonts and made them darker which helps. ❤️

White backgrounds are too bright on my eyes. I darken everything I read with Night Eye and I also wear tinted glasses. I am waiting for the final transfer of my domain and my new site should be go to go. It is live now but the domain url is temporary so I still can’t complete the set up.

I found out I could put the blogs in a dark reader mode. Check and see if there are apps or extensions that will help you with that. It makes a huge difference. Looking forward to your launch. It’s been a long haul for you. ❤
