think of closed doors
like closed chapters
accept and empower
your desire to know
let natural curiosity prevail
and intellectual curiosity spawn discovery
peel back outmoded layers
untap new beginnings
one step at a time
“When the doors begin to close, the mind begins to open.”
― Curtis Tyrone Jones
Reena’s Xploration Challenge #229
The prompt line for this week is
“I have untapped abilities waiting to be discovered.”
If you find it complex, you can use Layers as a theme for your piece. I feel the two are inter-related.

That’s a beautiful purple mushroom. Interesting quote from Curtis Jones.
Thank you, Frank. I liked the purple mushroom too!
A thought provoking poem
Thank you.
My pleasure
Thoroughly provocative poem Eugenia. I think the quote by Jones is spot on also and highly reflective of our times and twinned with Lewis. You have captured the essence and wish of the magic mushroom.
Just so you know, l decided in the last few days to close the Guy blog; there are many reasons, but mostly – time restraints, change, new beginnings and required endings and cost-consciousness. I will still be reading your blog, but from the business avatar only. The Guy blog is currently being stripped of the content l want to keep for me. I wrote about it, but no one seems phased, so l think the timing is right for me to go. So in many ways, your poem here is so apt.
You know, I tried to access the Guy blog yesterday and got “page cannot be displayed”. I wanted to contact you about it but we had a storm come through and our electric was sketchy most of the day. I didn’t see where you wrote about it. I’m sorry to see it close down because I enjoyed your poems and I learned much from your musical knowledge.
I did the same thing with my other blog, now named Eclectic Brew, and ended up reviving it. I did a copy/paste of my work to a word doc for future use and just for my own satisfaction. It’s still has a small amount of followers but I don’t care because it’s me.
Anyway, now you will have more time for your new blog, which is coming along beautifully. 😉
Hey Eugenia and that is it exactly. I take a lot of care and attention to my blogs as do you, but the problem was that l can’t sustain two blogs to that time dedication.
Poetry is still going to be a thing in Earthly and maybe even music. Where l went wrong with the Guy blog was that l wanted to introduce an element of business to it and found l couldn’t.
So the best bet was to make a business blog with a personal slanting to it. I can’t ever do straight end business, but l can do niche with a twist 🙂
I feel you’re on the right track with Earthly, and like your idea of a niche with twist, Rory! 😉
Thank you Eugenia 🙂
My pleasure, Rory!
Such interesting and inspiring statement and quote, dear Eugi. And a gorgeous picture too. Thanks. ❤
Thank you, Lamittan! 💖
Most welcome, Eugi. 💖
This is all that matters.

One needs to question again and again. Is it still relevant?
Yes, we have to make the most of our time here on earth. We become too complacent with who and where we are.
Agree.
I always like looking up things…
Some days you are lucky and learn more than one new thing 😀
I enjoy learning new things. It keeps me going! 😉
Indeed!
This poem describes the true “fountain of youth”, Eugi. When we stop growing, we die. Beautifully written and profound. I love the photo too! <3
Thank you so much, Cheryl! 💖
Beautiful.
