Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Stupendous – October 18, 2022

ignore the dizzies
hold fast to the stupendous
harmonious chaos

FYI, I am removing the ‘reblog’ feature from my blog. I understand there are a few sincere followers that reblog my posts to help in promoting my blog, which I appreciate. However, the ‘reblog’ feature makes my blog an easy mark for internet thieves. Also, Pingbacks will only be available on Moonwashed Musings prompt posts and The Limelighters. Thank you for your understanding.

  1. Good on you for removing that reblog button, Eugenia! Shame on WP for having that thing available. I see it as a great tool for content theft. Happy Tuesday. ❤️

    1. Thank you, John! It makes it too easy for content thieves and I had only a few well-meaning followers that used it so it seemed best to just remove it.

      1. You are welcome, and you are wise. I have a plugin installed that blocks the right-click function to copy photos, but it can’t stop a screenshot.

    1. I feel most acknowledge that it’s not theirs. The ‘reblog’ feature has its advantages and disadvantages. When my blog host was and not, it was not readily available. I don’t know if there is a plugin for it.

    1. Thank you, BellaDharma and BellaSita!

Go to your Admin Dashboard; Tools; then go to Marketing; Sharing Buttons. Scroll down almost to the bottom and you should see the ‘Reblog and Like’ options.

  2. I never understood the reblog feature on WordPressdotcom and self-hosted blogs don’t have it. I can see the potential for abuse, there. Lovely poem and image! ❤

P.S. Whenever I click the twitter share button on your blog it shows this: via @httpstwittercomFranceH45083335
I have to delete the httpstwittercom part to make it display correctly. It should be: via @FranceH4508335
You can change this in your WordPress settings.

    1. Yes, I remember my self-hosted blog not having the reblog button, and didn’t miss it one bit. I fixed my Twitter share button. Thank you for letting me know! ❤️

  3. My link is in. I can understand rearranging things. I never allowed certain things. At least WP isn’t doubling comments anymore. But I’m still getting spam dealing with a comment that is several years old. Delete and spam buttons come in handy for them .

      1. The only spam I’ve been getting is from that old comment from a different now seemingly abandoned site. I’ve done everything I could think of to stop it… but no luck. So now I just put ’em all in phishing and then delete the ‘spam’.

  5. i submitted mine to Mr. LInky.. and as to copying/plagiarising content, oh dear Eugie, i experienced that (on another platform), and i was so furious that she had the audacity to copy my exact poem and claim it to be hers..
